My Repeated Inverse Opal Experiment shows that the Blue Opal created previously has a delayed phosphorescence that seems to "pulsate" 2-3 times. This is likely due to electrons entering a vibrational relaxation state multiple times. It is possible that the light these crystals emit gets re-absorbed and re-emitted. The light is not sustained indefinitely because some energy is lost in the process.
